Key aspects of this role, which reports to the Head of Development Innovation, will include:

• Provision of leadership, goals and priority setting, workload distribution, and communication to team

• Leading, developing and growing a small team of designers, assemblers, and testers to ensure high quality end products

• Responsible for reviewing engineers’ designs, determining the costs and equipment needed to produce an item, and granting permission to begin production

• Undertaking standard administrative tasks such as setting schedules, keeping records, and training new workers

• Creating the policies and procedures necessary to ensure quality, efficient, cost-effective production

• Ensuring complete and accurate records of designs are maintained

• Constructing prototypes or models

• Designing and built projects from concept to completion

• Setting priorities on day-to-day product issues, spear head test plan implementation, test time reduction and yield improvement on both new and existing products

• Working to develop the test strategies and products of the future

• Researching appropriate contractors and suppliers

• Reporting to the Head of Product Innovation you will sit on the product development working group alongside the Regulatory & Clinical Manager and IP Manager and execute plans that arise there-from

The right candidate will have:

• Supervisory or Management experience

• Practical experience in production engineering

• An ability to turn ideas into reality

• Confidence to share and voice ideas

• Ability to troubleshoot

• Be pro-active

• Excellent organisation skills

• Take responsibility for a project from inception to completion

• Experience of working in an innovative environment

• Ability to cope with change and a fast paced business

• Knowledge of 3D Cad

We are recruiting for the Head of Product Innovation for our laboratory in Manchester, responsible for providing overall leadership to the product development department. In addition they will also be responsible for ensuring development of new products and ideas, the performance of the department from a quality and operational perspective and ensuring the most effective use and utilisation of the staff and assets at their disposal.

The post holder will be responsible for the Regulatory, Clinical, Engineering and Intellectual Property teams to ensure that new product ideas and innovations are brought to market as world class products.

Key aspects of this role, which reports to the Joint Managing Director, will include:

• Leading the development and management of product development – driving cutting edge products to market ensuring increased revenues and market share

• This is a high profile position that requires significant influencing skills with cross functional teams

• Supporting activities necessary to promote and grow the business ensuring that all new business enquiries are fully evaluated from a production perspective and that the proposed process solutions are costed accurately

• Assisting the smooth transfer of new products into manufacture and commercial operations

• Participating in capital investment projects providing input on facility design and equipment requirements and solution selection.

• Assisting in the preparation of department budgets and effective management of department costs

• Maintaining up to date knowledge and experience of industry trends and guidance

The right candidate will have:

• Significant exposure to the end customer and the client services environment and culture

• Experience of leading FDA, MHRA or equivalent audits and having direct liaison with the auditors

• You are likely to be Degree/HND qualified with a depth of senior experience including strong commercial acumen including budgeting, forecasting and asset/investment assessment and implementation

• Analytical, committed and an individual who thrives on business pressures – fundamentally you enjoy being judged on your results

• Excellent relationship development experience

Duties include cold calling businesses to sell our free service to them.

The ideal candidate will be required to make 100 new business calls each day. Excellent opportunity to progress in a growing company.

Hours of work are 8.30 am – 5.30 pm. National Minimum Wage applies.
